Thanksgiving actually went off without a hitch this year. But honestly,  I’m not surprised. 2017 has been one of the BEST years of my life. Only 2008 comes close. (Ahhhhh 2008 was such a good year)
This past year my entire life improved. Even with the ups and downs, it was still an amazingly happy year.

James and I hosted Thanksgiving. It was his first time ever hosting the holiday at his own house. Even during his previous marriage, he had always went to his parents' home, or his ex-wife's parents hosted.

Being newly married AND vegan, I thought it would be a good idea to host TG because I want to establish our own family holiday traditions as well as continue to enjoy our honeymoon phase. (Yes, we are still honeymooning, and probably will be honeymooners for life)

I ordered vegan sides from my personal chef Veronica Velasquez of Vegan Feast by Chef V. I met Veronica when James hired her to cook my birthday dinner back in October. Since then, I order a couple meals a week from her.

Anyway, We had AMAZING food. I cooked a turkey too. But the rest was vegan and the family LOVED it! It was a hit. I was so happy. Even my dad, who hates eating healthy just on GP had two plates and declared it the best food he's eaten in a long time.

I made my mom's giblet gravy too and that was also a hit. My husband doesn't like gravy, but he ate mine, and even asked for the leftovers two days later.

My brother and son stayed from TG day until the weekend. We went to James' parents house on Lake Anna. It was great interacting with my family. The holiday was totally stress-free. That in itself is a blessing.

My stepchildren and my son got to hang out all week and that was great too. They mostly played video games. My stepsons are into fitness and work out daily. My son joined in too. They also shot air rifles and B.B. gun pistols, after getting rid of the leaves on his parents’ property. It took all day but was such a great experience.

Life is good. So glad I married him.
